Victim Services
Consistent with jurisdictional laws and legal practices within the jurisdiction, registered crime victim(s) are notified and provided information regarding the offender(s) in the victim’s case of a juvenile offender’s release prior to any planned release from confinement and/or escape from custody. Follow-up notification to victims occurs when escapees are returned to custody. Comment : An increasing number of jurisdictions are requiring notification to reg istered crime victims. When statutes exist, the agency provides the staff with clear instructions to implement the process.

The facility actively identifies and implements activities that contribute to the community

Recruiting Volunteers 5-JCF-7G-09 (Ref 4-JCF-6G-09)
The volunteer coordinator provides for increasing citizen involvement by re cruiting volunteers The screening and selection of volunteers allows for re cruitment from all cultural and socioeconomic parts of the community The volunteer program is clearly defined and well organized. Comment : Volunteers can make an important contribution to an agency by provid ing a number of direct services to juveniles, as well as serving as a link between the agency and the community. The written policies and procedures should explain the major functions and method of volunteer services operation. Staff responsibility for maintaining citizen involvement in volunteer services should be clearly desig nated. Efforts should be made to recruit volunteers from all segments of society. Volunteers should be selected based on a uniform screening process that is consis tent with security concerns.
