Response to Media 5-JCF-7G-04 (Ref 4-JCF-6G-04)

Media access procedures address emergency and nonemergency responses to the media At a minimum, they include: 1. The identification of areas in the facility to which media representatives have access 2. The identification of a contact person authorized to speak with the media on behalf of the facility 3. The identification of data and information protected by federal and/or state privacy and freedom of information statutes 4 Special events coverage 5 News releases 6 Direction on appropriate responses for individuals within the facility not authorized to speak with the media

Legislative and Judicial Information Requests 5-JCF-7G-05 (Ref 4-JCF-6G-05)

Designated facility staff respond promptly to requests from federal, state, and local legislators, executives, and other components of juvenile justice for in formation about operations or specific juveniles with due regard for privacy protection statutes Comment : Full and prompt cooperation with requests from legislative and execu tive offices is necessary if the institution is to maintain its integrity and credibility with other elements of government.

Process Indicators : Written letters from/to public officials; requests from officials for information; responses sent.

Political Practices 5-JCF-7G-06 (Ref 4-JCF-6G-06)

Campaigning, lobbying, and political practice policies conform to governmental statutes and regulations, which are made known and available to all employees
