This presentation will provide an overview of VOD from a facilitator’s perspective. The presenter will share how Victim Offender Dialogue came to Louisiana and insight on how the program has evolved. The presentation will also discuss the significance of the use of the word “dialogue” vs. “mediation.” The presentation will include case overviews from the preparation point of view and the benefits to those involved when the dialogue is successful. Learning Objectives: • Know the difference between mediation and dialogue. • Have a high-level understanding of the dialogue process in Louisiana. • Leave with a better understanding of why those involved choose to participate.
