D-2G Hepatitis Alphabet Soup: A Review and Update (CE, CME, CERP) Track: Healthcare & Treatment Room: National Harbor 7 Patients with Hepatitis are disproportionately concentrated in correction facilities due to risk factors involved in incurring these infections. The workshop will review the cumulated information on Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and Hepatitis D, focusing on the most current guidelines regarding evaluation and management of each condition. It will delineate the screening, assessment, treatment and prevention of the different Hepatitis infections and their relevance and impact on patients currently in correction facilities. Learning Objectives: • Learn the current screening and vaccination recommendations for Hepatitis A, B, C and D. • Understand the current recommendations for evaluation of patients infected with Hepatitis A, B, C and D. • Implement treatment programs, including drug selection and monitoring pre-, in- and post-treatment follow-up. Room: National Harbor 11 In 2019, in recognition of the impact of the opioid epidemic, Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (ODRC) Director Annette Chambers-Smith issued her first Executive Order which endorsed the utilization of medication-assisted treatment to aid in recovery from opioid use disorders and promote successful reentry. Over the last two years,
in collaboration with the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, ODRC has been providing all three forms of medication-assisted treatment to incarcerated Ohioans. This workshop will address the opportunities and challenges associated with implementing this program. Learning Objectives: • Learn how and why medication-assisted therapy works with opioid use disordered individuals. • Learn about the legal and administrative challenges of delivering medication-assisted treatment in a correctional environment. • Lessons learned from ODRC’s first years of program operation. Room: National Harbor 12 Ongoing experience of problem behaviors and frequent crises can be one of the most demoralizing aspects of life for clinicians and facility staff. Similarly, responding to perpetual crisis and little or no tangible progress to reduce it is one of the leading contributors to burnout and frustration. Understanding and framing client crisis in terms of behavioral principles of reinforcement, shaping, punishment and extinction can be a helpful way to approach crisis situations in order to coach and shape more effective behavior and reduce likelihood
