Wills , Staff Sergeant, U.S. Army, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas C-2D Revenue Generating and Waste Reducing Strategies through Sustainability Programs in Corrections Track: ACA Resources Room: National Harbor 5 This workshop will review strategies, programs and projects that offer economic, environmental, social and security benefits within the corrections community. Sustainability related programs reduce operating costs, increase safety, provide potential sources of revenue and create green career opportunities for the

incarcerated population upon reentry. This workshop will review successful programs in Ohio, Shelby County (Memphis) and Philadelphia that feature innovative methods for reducing waste, generating revenue and job training for inmates. Participants will learn how to build an agency wide program or rebuild a program after COVID-19 and will dialogue about challenges and exemplary practices learned from three innovative corrections programs. Learning Objectives: • Understand the potential sustainability programs have to generate revenue and reduce waste at your facility. • Plan, strategize and rebuild a successful program after COVID-19. • Identify key job skills and green career opportunities for inmates through the implementation of sustainability programs.
