B-2I Paradigm Shift: The Massachusetts Model for Eliminating Restrictive Housing (CE, Y CE) Tracks: Healthcare & Treatment/Security/ Staff Training/Jails/Special Offenders Room: National Harbor 12 This workshop will outline the Massachusetts Department of Correction’s development and implementation of a behavior assessment and program-intervention model to replace the use of Restrictive Housing in managing threats and misconduct. The presenters will discuss the development and implementation of Behavior Assessment Units, which were designed to assess the underlying causes of

activities, and resources that you can use to address staff trauma and organizational stress. Through the workshop the speakers will highlight a best practice called “Healthy Workplace Participatory Program” a Total Worker Health approach. At the end of this workshop, attendees will be able to utilize an evidence-based approach for designing worker-informed interventions in their workplaces. Learning Objectives: • Identify best practices that fit your workplace to address staff trauma and organizational stress based on evidence. • Identify national commonly used programs (policies, practices, peer support and training) to address staff trauma organizational stress and their usefulness for correctional staff. • Utilize Healthy Workplace Participatory Program (HWPP) approach and tools to address staff trauma and organizational stress in correctional setting.
