Written policy, procedure, and practice require transport staff to establish several routes to frequently traveled destinations so as not to establish a pre dictable pattern. Comment : Routes should be changed so as not to establish a pattern. Protocols : Written policy and procedures. Process Indicators : Documentation of routes and schedules; Interviews. Transport staff will notify the facility prior to any un-planned or emergency stops, to include stops for restroom breaks. This notification will include the exact location, the reason and time of the stop. The facility will be notified at the time when the transport has resumed. Comment : None. Protocols : Written policy and procedure; Post Orders. Process Indicators : Transportation logs and communication records. Written policy, procedure, and practice require transport staff, prior to departure, to inform the facility of the route that will be taken and any planned stops, including those for meals, excluding confidential transports. The planned stops will be authorized by the facility designee. Comment : None. Protocols : Written policy and procedures; Post orders. Process Indicators : Documentation of notification of routes; Checklists; Authori zation by facility designee.

Written policy, procedure, and practice requires all inmates be strip/ unclothed search or body scanner search by or under the direct supervision of the transport staff. Comment : Type of search and individual searching should be logged. Protocols : Written policy and procedure. Process Indicators : Transportation log/checklists; Search records.
