This strategy focuses on educating stakeholders in areas such as reentry, education and other programming offered to the incarcerated population in Ohio. ODRC’s marketing includes a comprehensive plan to bolster staff recruitment and retention. The key component of the agency’s strategic plan involves collaboration with internal and external stakeholders through marketing and communications campaigns on multiple platforms. The real story is even more compelling than the news reports and the “Showtime” dramatization. The Escape From Dannemora: The Real Story Room W231 B/C
initial presentation will include an accurate description and chronology of events from planning to escape to capture and beyond, video of the actual route through the prison to the manhole taken hours after the escape, and the Governor’s coordination of law enforcement which led to the capture of inmate David Sweat and the death of inmate Richard Matt. Primary Presenter: Chris Martuscello , Assistant Commissioner, NYSDOCCS, Albany, New York Leadership in Corrections: 5 Must Have Competencies Room W230 C Overview: Leaders, and aspiring leaders, in corrections will be motivated, inspired and strongly encouraged to enhance their professional mindset, and foster an atmosphere of increased leadership and accountability to their staff, organization and the men and women they serve. This session will identify and examine the five “must have” competencies every leader in corrections should develop and demonstrate to increase effectiveness and efficiency in their people, processes and systems! The workshop will consist of engaging activities that will encourage the participants to contribute orally and in written format. Participants will participate in a small group format and engage in discussions around their leadership, communication and conflict styles. The workshop will walk the participants through an abbreviated DiSC activity that will help them be more effective and efficient with their colleagues and agencies.
