Opioid Summit A Holistic Approach to the Treatment of Opioid Use Disorder Monday, Aug. 25, 2025 • 8–11:45 a.m. • Rooms 506/507

T he Opioid Summit aims to train multidisciplinary correctional staff on opioid use disorder (OUD) and medications for OUD (MOUD), fostering a unified, evidence-based approach to treatment in jails and prisons. By educating custody, medical, mental health, reentry and leadership teams, the training reduces stigma, promotes empathy and encourages coordinated care. This cultural and operational shift enhances staff communication, improves treatment continuity and strengthens program sustainability — ultimately supporting recovery, reducing recidivism and improving outcomes for incarcerated individuals and their communities.
