Providing MAT in the Regular Medline: Removing Barriers and Optimizing Patient Care [CE|CME|CEU] Primary Community of Focus: Prisons & Jails Room: 111 Overview: Substance misuse remains active substance use disorder diagnosis. Traditional medication-assisted treatment in correctional settings is often time-consuming and staff-intensive. In 2022, the Colorado Department of Corrections piloted integrating buprenorphine into the regular medication line at Sterling Correctional Facility, reducing staff burden while maintaining safety. The practice expanded statewide by 2024. Inspired by Colorado, Delaware adopted similar procedures in 2023, implementing medication-assisted treatment in regular medication lines across all facilities. This approach increased access, reduced staff demands and improved patient care.
