A-3C Anatomy of a Successful Sustainability, Energy & Water Efficiency Program Track: ACA Resources Room: National Harbor 4 This workshop provides attendees a window into North Carolina’s Department of Adult Correction Sustainability, Energy & Water Efficiency program. Insights include our approach to funding, team building, recognition of champions and collaboration between our Facilities Management and our Central Engineering teams. The ongoing execution of our programs is also discussed including our LED in ’23! Elements of our presentation include: Campaign, Building Management System Design Guidelines & Graphics, Dynamic Utility Dashboard, Water Leak Detection and Repair, Zero and Low Emission Fleet, land preservation and solar. We do so while facing budgetary, project management and installation bandwidth challenges. Learning Objectives: • Understand the technologies utilized to make our program successful and the opportunities and challenges each presents for successful deployment. • Understand the critical nature of situational awareness required for a successful program: Clearly understanding your mission, identifying and embracing your champions, creating win-win situations between your efforts and facilities management and correctional operations and developing a problem-solving mentality to accomplish your goals. • Gain insights into the successes and challenges faced by Facilities Management Staff in order to accomplish these goals. A-3D Richness of Reentry: Education and Correctional Industries Partnering to Prepare Tomorrow’s Workforce Track: Reentry/Community Corrections Room: National Harbor 5 The Washington State Department of Corrections is a national leader in a collaborative continuum of care model to support individual reentry success. This workshop will provide an overview of the Department’s collaboration between Correctional Industries workforce development and education vocational and postsecondary programming in order to provide high-wage, high-demand career pathways for individuals as they return to the community. Presenters will highlight college and vocational programs specifically designed to correlate and deepen participants’ understanding and transferrable skills; and provide a real-world setting through Correctional Industries for individuals to apply knowledge and establish work experience prior to release. Learning Objectives: • Develop an understanding of the importance of the intersection between education programs and the Correctional Industry’s training and workforce development opportunities for incarcerated individuals.
