D-1I Implementation of Guidelines for Managing Substance Withdrawal in Jails: Lessons from the Field (CE, Y CE, CERP) Tracks: ACA Resource/Healthcare & Treatment/Staff Training/Jails/Reentry & Community Corrections Room: National Harbor 12 Jails and jurisdictions must be prepared to appropriately manage substance use withdrawal among individuals in custody, which can be life-threatening. Recently released Guidelines for Managing Substance Withdrawal in Jails sets forth exemplary clinical practices and actionable guidance. Experts will review key components of the withdrawal management decision process and related recommendations; provide tools to help implement the Guidelines in any-sized jail; share implementation strategies and solutions to challenges; and describe technical assistance opportunities. Learning Objectives: • Describe the key steps for implementing a comprehensive and appropriate approach to withdrawal management and how to prioritize them.

• Describe how to utilize the implementation toolkit. • Describe implementation strategies that account for differences in resources among jails. • Articulate how jurisdictions can secure training and technical assistance to implement the Guidelines’ recommendations.
