Progressing to ‘Meet and Treat’ HCV Elimination Programs in Justice System Settings: Opportunities and Challenges [CE/CME/CERP] Room 209C Primary Area of Focus: Healthcare/Wellness Primary Community of Focus: Prisons/Jails In the United States, 2.4 million individuals are currently infected with Hepatitis C. 30% of all hepatitis C patients will spend at least one night in jail or prison this year. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) chose ACA to survey jail and prison systems to produce a Hepatitis C testing and treatment gap-analysis report. This report is now complete. We have also completed an updated curriculum for prescribers, nurses and for inmate peer-facilitators that features new, streamlined clinical pathways for treating Hepatitis C. We present the challenges identified in the report and the new clinical pathways. Participants will leave with actionable information to update their hepatitis C treatment and elimination programs.

Learning Objectives: • Participants will be able to articulate the pivotal role jails and prisons hold in the success of the national program for Hepatitis C elimination through treatment. • Participants will be able to understand the essential elements and resources required to establish a ‘meet and treat’ Hepatitis C screening, diagnosis and treatment program within their facilities. • Participants will be able to identify the resource challenges their system faces in scaling up to a 100% treatment program, and next steps needed to take in order to succeed in fielding a hepatitis C elimination program.
