Additionally, these are often “invisible disabilities” that are difficult to identify and, therefore, ADA accommodations are often not provided in order to ensure safety and equitable treatment. This lack of training is concerning given that people with disabilities are overrepresented in U.S. prisons and jails. The Bureau of Justice Statistics Survey of Prison Inmates found that nearly two in five incarcerated people had a disability, and cognitive disability was the most common disability reported. This session will provide practical strategies on how to both identify and respond to people with IDD in order to ensure their safety and de-escalate potentially dangerous situations. Learning Objectives: • Participants will be able to know how to identify if someone may have an IDD, what dual diagnosis is, and how to differentiate between IDD and a mental health disability. • Participants will be able to better
