Since 2020, the Department has partnered with Louisiana State University Social Research and Evaluation Center to refine the existing Risk-Needs-Re sponsivity assessment. Department of Public Safety and Corrections has successfully reconfigured the TIGER Needs Assessment based on the entire LA DPS&C population and refined the TIGER Institutional Risk algorithm to be gender responsive. Learning Objectives: • Participants will be able to identify major factors required to obtain and maintain critical long-term collaborative efforts between academic institutions and state Departments of Corrections. • Technical considerations necessary to
refine validated needs assessment and risk prediction tools specific to state prison populations including data protocols, estimation methods and challenges to automation. • Participants will also be able to identify tangible “next steps” to establish and maintain proof of concept.
