individuals attempting to navigate the system upon release from incarceration and returning to society. This activity simulates a one-month post-release period, which is represented by four weeks. Also, there is a group discussion at the end of every week, which will include a final debrief at the conclusion of the reentry simulation. This impactful training will provide participants with a valuable first-hand experiential journey of reentry which can assist in shifting perspectives on reentry. Learning Objectives: • Discuss the challenges individuals face entering society after a period of incarceration (e.g., identifications, employment). • Discuss evidence-based strategies (e.g., graduated sanctions) that are used to address supervision non-compliance. • Analyze the shifting perspectives for correctional professionals as it relates to reentry. A-4F Identifying and Treating Alcohol Use Disorder: Looking at the Big Picture (CE, Y CE, CME, CERP) Room 127B Track: Healthcare This presentation will look at the disease from a “medical lens” and a “psychological lens” as multiple symptoms emerge dictating collaboration between professionals as the whole person gets treated. Participants will hear about medical treatment options from a medical doctor and psychological treatment options from a psychologist. A profile will be given of common medications used in treatment and the pros and cons to each medication. Alcohol Withdrawal Syndrome (potentially fatal) will be discussed as well as in how to assess and treat it in a corrections setting. Key treatment factors to successful Aftercare will be identified-short and long term. Finally, the ongoing need for collaboration between professionals will be emphasized and the need to educate and inform operations and security staff about key treatment issues. Learning Objectives: • Identify the pros and cons of key medications in treating those with Alcohol Use Disorder. • Understand physical and psychological damage done to those with Alcohol Use Disorder. • Identify and understand the different types of clinical treatment for those with Alcohol Use Disorders and the need for short and long-term Aftercare.
