E-2D Our Roadway to Freedom: A Program for Incarcerated Females with a History of Sexual Exploitation or Victimization Room 126C Track: Staff Training In recent years, greater emphasis has been placed on identifying gender specific needs of women in rehabilitation programs. As we have become increasingly aware of the prevalence of sexual exploitation of women, particularly those who may be incarcerated for prostitution or who have been victims of abuse, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice sought to develop a program targeting the specific needs of this population. This session will discuss the history behind the development of the Our Roadway to Freedom program and the services offered to program participants to prepare them for their transition back into society as healthier, more productive individuals. Learning Objectives: • Understand the prevalence of sexual exploitation of women and the statistics related specifically to incarcerated women who have experienced being victims of sexual exploitation, human trafficking or other forms of abuse.
