Notification of Death 5-JCF-5C-44 (Ref 4-JCF-4C-43)

In the case of death of a juvenile, the juvenile’s parent, guardian, or legal cus todian is promptly notified. Procedures specify and govern the actions to be taken in the event of the death of a juvenile Comment : The medical examiner or coroner should be notified of a juvenile’s death immediately. A postmortem examination should be performed if the cause of death is unknown, if the death occurred under suspicious circumstances, or if the juvenile was not under current medical care.

Involuntary Administration of Medication

(MANDATORY) Involuntary administration of psychotropic medication(s) to juveniles complies with applicable laws and regulations of the jurisdiction When administered, the process shall include: 1. Authorized administration by a physician for a specific duration. 2 Less-restrictive-intervention options have been exercised without success, as determined by the physician or psychiatrist 3. Specific details about why, when, where, and how the medication is to be administered 4 Monitoring for adverse reactions and side effects 5 Less-restrictive or less invasive treatment-plan alternatives are prepared as soon as possible with return to voluntary treatment, as soon as clinically feasible
