Periodic Exams 5-JCF-5C-04 (Ref 4-JCF-4C-04)
The responsible health care practitioner determines the parameters for peri odic health examinations of juveniles Comment : All juveniles should have an annual examination completed by a health care practitioner.

Access to Care 5-JCF-5C-05 (Ref 4-JCF-4C-05)
(MANDATORY) Upon arrival at the facility, all juveniles are informed about how to access health care services This information is communicated orally and in writing and is conveyed in a language that is easily understood by each juvenile When a literacy problem, language problem, or physical handicap prevents a juvenile from understanding oral and written information, a staff member or translator assists the juvenile No member of the correctional staff shall impede the juvenile’s requests for access to health care services Comment : When a facility frequently has non-English speaking juveniles, access procedures shall be explained and written in their language. Access procedures shall also be explained orally to juveniles unable to read. Juveniles with a physical handicap should have an appropriate facilitator provided.
