3D. - PERFORMANCE-BASED STANDARD: CHILD ABUSE AND NEGLECT Juveniles are protected from the threat of verbal, physical, and/or sexual

abuse, neglect, and assault. EXPECTED PRACTICES Child Abuse and Neglect 5-JCF-3D-01 (Ref 4-JCF-3D-01)

All instances of child abuse and/or neglect are reported consistent with appro priate state law or local laws Comment : Whenever a juvenile reports or staff observes indicators of child abuse and/or neglect, there are procedures for resident care and investigation of the alle gation. Where appropriate, interagency agreements pursuant to child abuse should be implemented.

Protocols : Written policy and procedure.

Process Indicators : Completed documentation; incident reports; case records.

Sexual Abuse and Assault (PREA) 5-JCF-3D-02 (Ref 4-JCF-3D-02)

Information is provided to juveniles about sexual abuse/assault including: 1 Prevention/intervention 2 Self-protection 3 Reporting sexual abuse/assault 4 Treatment and counseling The information is communicated orally and in writing, in a language clearly understood by the juvenile, upon arrival at the facility

Process Indicators : Curriculum; juvenile sign-in sheet; juvenile receipt of material.
