Part 1: Safety

1B. - PERFORMANCE-BASED STANDARD: FIRE SAFETY AND EMERGENCIES The number and severity of emergencies is minimized. When emergencies oc cur, they are responded to appropriately to minimize severity. EXPECTED PRACTICES Fire Safety Codes and Inspections 5-JCF-1B-01 (Ref 4-JCF-1B-01) (MANDATORY) The facility conforms to applicable federal, state, and/or lo cal fire safety codes. Fire safety inspections are conducted at the following intervals: 1 An annual inspection is conducted by the authority having jurisdiction or other qualified person(s).

2. A monthly inspection is conducted by a qualified fire and safety officer. 3 Weekly inspections are conducted by trained departmental staff

Protocols : Written policy and procedure; copies of fire regulations; annual, month ly, and weekly inspection forms. Process Indicators : Copies of completed inspections forms/reports; documenta tion of corrective action or approved variances/exceptions; license or certificate, if applicable; documentation of credentials or qualifications of persons conducting fire inspections.

Fire Alarm and Automatic Detection System 5-JCF-1B-02 (Ref 4-JCF-1B-02)

(MANDATORY) The facility is equipped with a fire alarm and automatic de tection system 1. Additional fire-protection equipment, located throughout the facility as required and approved by the authority having jurisdiction, includes but is not limited to:

a Fire extinguishers b Sprinkler systems c Exit signs d Emergency lighting e Food-service-hood-suppression systems

2. A trained person inspects fire-protection equipment at least monthly. 3. Testing and maintenance of fire-protection equipment is conducted by a qualified person quarterly unless otherwise indicated in federal, state, or local regulations 4 Power generators are inspected weekly and load-tested quarterly at a minimum or in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations and instruction manuals
