Educational Records 5-JCF-6D-11 (Ref 4-JCF-5D-11)

Provisions exist to govern maintenance and handling of educational and vo cational records. Students’ rights to privacy and confidentiality in accordance with state and federal law are maintained Comment : Academic/vocational information should become a part of the master file and be transferred when juveniles are moved to other facilities or relocated in the community during prerelease or release. Accurately maintained student files and records are part of staff accountability and are essential for program needs, assessments, and evaluations. Protocols : Written policy and procedure; established education file and master file format. Process Indicators : Juvenile educational records and master files; interviews with records manager(s); review of processes used to transfer files with juvenile to other facilities.

Annual Evaluation 5-JCF-6D-12 (Ref 4-JCF-5D-12)

There is an annual evaluation to measure the effectiveness of the educational and vocational training programs against stated performance objectives Comment : The education program should be evaluated annually. The results of the evaluation should be submitted to the facility administrator for review.

Protocols : Education program goals and objectives; evaluation tools.

Process Indicators : Copies of evaluation/assessment reports; evaluation report of outcomes of goals and objectives for academic year; evidence of facility adminis trator’s review.
