The importance of passion for correctional professionals
By Mary L. Livers, Ph.D. W hen Executive Direc column, his instructions to me were to write about what I am passion ate about. My first overall passion is for our association. Passion for our work defines us tor Green asked me to write something for this
as a profession and the profession als we strive to be. Passion for the work is why the American Correc tions Association began in 1870. Think about the passion of the individuals involved in creating what was then known as the Na tional Prison Association in 1870. That passion for our work continues today as it did in 1870. Our past is honored by who we are today.
I am proud to be a member of ACA, and especially proud to have served as the 104 th President of our Association. And I thank Executive Director Green for allowing me to contribute to this column.
