Jim Gondles retirement ceremony Corrections community bids adieu to legend

This Congress of Correction was a bittersweet event because the corrections community was saying “Happy Retirement” to longtime ACA Ex ecutive Director James A. Gondles, Jr. As Director Gondles noted in his address at the General Session, this was the 62 nd national conference (Congress of Correction and Winter Conference) he had been a part of. And so, on Saturday, August 12 in the Grand Ballroom of the Marriott Downtown Philadelphia, the entire corrections community gathered to say their “Thank You’s” and their goodbyes to Direc tor Gondles.

ACA President Denise Robinson said of Director Gondles in the General Session “Because of you accreditation means meeting the very highest standards in this demanding profession and we are grateful for your leadership.” It was a fitting tribute to a man who has given so much of his time and talent to advancing the cause of corrections. Corrections Today salutes James A. Gondles, Jr. and wishes him a long and happy retirement.
