Angela D. Sutton (IN) Executive Director of Division of Youth Services Indiana Department of Correction

Angela D. Sutton began working in corrections in 1999. She relocated from Louisiana to Indiana and began her career with the Indiana Department of Correction (IDOC) where she held various posi - tions from treatment supervisor to superintendent from 2004-2011. Sutton has served as an executive assistant with the Florida Department of Corrections (FDOC), where she was responsible for youth - ful offender and gender specific programming, as well as being the PREA Coordinator for the FDOC. Sutton received a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in criminal justice from Southern University at New Orleans. She has served as the lead administrator in two facilities that have obtained their initial ACA accreditation; one being a juvenile correctional facility in Indiana and the other a juvenile detention center in Tennessee. Sutton currently serves as the Executive Director of the Division of Youth Services for the IDOC, where she oversees juvenile correc - tions for the state of Indiana.

Tonja Burks (MS) Correctional Supervisor Central Mississippi Correctional Facility

Tonja Burks has been employed with the Mississippi Department of Corrections for 21 years. After graduating from high school, she was employed with Raytheon Aerospace Defense in Forest, Mississippi. She remained with the company for 12 years. She also attended Jackson State Univer - sity where she studied speech communications. In 1996, an office manager at a private law office and coordinator of Mississippi Black Caucus Local Elected Officials (MBC-LEO). While working there, Burks began researching information about the Mississippi Department of Corrections and applied as a correc - tional officer trainee, where she successfully completed all requirements and graduated. During her tenure at Mississippi Department of Correction she has worked in the following areas: Women’s Unit, Receiving and Classification, Cen - tral Security, Transportation, Support and Special Services, and the Training Department. She currently serves on the Commissioner’s Advisory Committee. In 2012, she joined the Youthful Offender Unit (YOU). Some of her duties and responsibilities include interim correctional supervisor, key and tool control, administrative staff, and more.

Hilton Hall Jr. (TN) Warden CoreCivic — Hardeman County Correctional Facility, Tennessee

Hilton Hall Jr. has had an illustrious 37-year career with the Georgia Department of Corrections (GA DOC) and CoreCivic, where he has garnered a myriad of knowledge while serving in positions from correctional officer to warden to regional director. Hall served as warden at eight GA DOC fa - cilities before retiring in 2012 and joining CoreCivic. During his career, Hall gained recognition from having “The Best Prison in the U.S.” while warden at Valdosta State Prison and being featured in the National Geographic documentary Hard Times. He was also an instructor at the GA Corrections Academy and has most recently served as warden at three CoreCivic facilities. He holds an associate degree in law enforcement and a Bachelor of Science degree. He currently serves on CoreCivic’s Warden’s Advisory Group.
