for being a leader in pushing for responsible OUD treatment plans in correctional facilities. Despite the challenges, Dr. Saloner observed some trends moving in the right direction. He noted it has become easier, thanks to landmark litigation and recent legislation, for correctional facilities to offer MOUD therapy both in facility and in working with the community after reentry. Finally, Dr. Saloner described what an ideal MOUD program would look like. He described it as “a default option, not an add-on” while emphasizing it as not just compassion but as an investment which will pay off. Dr. Saloner answered some questions from the audience on a variety of subjects and thanked the crowded assembly for all they do to help mitigate this national crisis.
