courageous heroes who gave their lives in the pursuit of protecting others. While all of this was indeed for them, it was also for those they left behind. This ceremony not only brought comfort, but it also served as a reminder that we are not alone. The American Correctional Association and Correc- tions Today would like to send a special thank you to all the unseen heroes, whose unwavering care and devotion to public safety is appreciated indebtedly. We honor the lives sacrificed in true acts of heroism, who shall never be forgotten. White doves were released and soared over the crowd, symbolizing peace, freedom and rest for all the courageous heroes who gave their lives in the pursuit of protecting others.
