C-1A Addressing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Are They Words or a Call to Action? TRACK: Prisons During the 2020 summer conference of the Correctional Leaders Association (CLA), a full day panel discussion led by CLA members was held on racism, as one aspect of diversity and inclusion, and social justice. This approach was compelling and led to a rich dialogue. The panel for this presentation will share their leadership perspectives, priorities in addressing racism and inequities, and engaging staff and creating cultures of inclusion. The audience will be engaged in a facilitated, open dialogue. The workshop is grounded in an awareness that these sensitive issues find leaders acknowledging that everyone is not starting from a shared perspective or shared language in approaching social change in correctional cultures. Learning Objectives: 1. Gain strategies from correctional leaders’ perspectives to address diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), and particularly racism. 2.
