The REAL Workshop is an interactive session taught by a diverse group of justice involved individuals and/or family members that provides the opportunity to share experiences from many different perspectives. The people who created and teach this workshop include women and men who were formerly incarcerated and are now home and on the right track, people who have never been incarcerated but have been affected in some way by the justice system and law enforcement/correction professionals who have worked 1. Participants will have a deeper understanding of the importance of motivating those in their care and custody and how showing empathy can create an environment that is conducive to successful community reintegration. 2. Participants will obtain a deeper understanding of how to actively examine and develop solutions that overcome the current reentry indicator barriers that greatly impact preparation for successful transitioning from incarceration to the community. 3.
