Bringing Care Inside the Walls: How Can Utilization Management Drive Onsite and Virtual Care Expansion? [CE|CME|CERP] Room 103 C Primary Community of Focus: Adult Corrections Overview: Offsite specialty visits in correctional healthcare drive cost, logistical challenges and security risks—often for conditions manageable onsite. This session explores how a reimagined utilization management (UM) model can expand onsite and virtual care by analyzing UM data to target high-frequency referrals and transition services like wound care or minor procedures in-house. Strategies include provider training, tele-specialty partnerships, and ROI models, transforming UM into a proactive tool for cost optimization and safer, more efficient care delivery. Learning Objectives: • How UM data can be used to map the most common reasons for offsite referrals and target those for in-house or telemedicine alternatives? • What partnerships (e.g., local hospitals, specialty groups, telehealth vendors) can
is multidisciplinary and centers effective communication, feedback and reinforcement. Learning Objectives: • Identify the importance of a functional assessment of problem behavior in determining appropriate interventions. • Identify how to develop and implement a skill strengthening plan into targeting behavior problems. • Discuss the importance of growth teams in targeting youth behavior and encouraging change.
