There are guidelines and practice updates that are updated for the management of patients. However, there are new concepts, and new diseases are emerging that providers need to be abreast of to meet the demands for appropriate treatment of patients entering a correctional environment. This workshop will present new trends, guidelines and exemplary expected practices in the treatment of correctional populations. Learning Objectives: • Present new guidelines in the management of our patients. • New emerging diseases will be presented that will impact correctional health care. • Take pertinent information that will enhance their practice within the correctional settings. We will walk you through a series of scenarios where you can apply your knowledge to improve your physical assessment skills. The emphasis is on depth rather than breadth of skills and your ability to interpret your physical assessment observations and develop clinical judgment. Learning Objectives: • Demonstrate improved physical assessment skills. • Assess for differential symptoms that identify unique types of GI/GU disease processes. • Identify critical labs that need to be ordered & interpreted.
