Some say because of its complexity, it is often over diagnosed. This presentation will review the history of mood disorders, the epidemiology of bipolar disorder, psychological diagnostic formulations as well as treatment modalities. Both old and new agents will be discussed. New genetic theories and somatic treatments will be discussed as well. Mckinney , Correctional Sergeant, Davidson County Sheriff Department, Nashville, Tennessee Promoting a Rehabilitative Environment Through Evidence-Based, Data Driven Staff Training Room W240 D Overview: Staff in juvenile residential treatment facilities (JRTF) are pivotal in the provision of a rehabilitative environment. Therefore, creating, delivering and modifying staff trainings based on evidence-based approaches (i.e., methods that are scientifically proven to be effective through rigorous research) and incorporating data-driven strategies, where ongoing performance metrics and outcomes are used to continuously inform and adjust training practices, is critical in fostering a therapeutic environment. To accomplish this, an important endeavor for licensed behavior analysts within JRTFs is the integration and promotion of positive practices, clinical experience and evidence-based research. This workshop aims to provide an overview of some of the assessment and intervention strategies utilized by two Board Certified and Licensed Behavior Analysts and their team to implement evidenced-based, data driven decision making within a JRTF. Learning Objectives: • Describe how behavior data can be used to inform and allocate facility resources. • Acquire knowledge of a behavior assessment to inform and develop additional staff support. • Learn the importance of using data to tailor staff training and support.
