Let’s Get Moving: Transportation Collaboration for Successful Inmate/ Juvenile Off Site Healthcare Services [CE/ CERP] Room W230 B Overview: Developing business operational relationships with security transportation staff is key to successful medical management of inmate/juvenile offsite healthcare. Offsite medical care may account for 30% plus of services provided to inmates/juveniles in a correctional setting. This presentation will review the research literature on effective methods of developing productive relationships with security transportation staff. Coordinating with non-medical staff to ensure knowledge of patient medical status before transportation to offsite medical care will ensure compliance and reduce severe symptoms. Finally, components of a system that includes transportation officers as “healthcare hero’s” will be reviewed through the lens of the state of Georgia’s healthcare services division.
