medication assisted treatment (MAT) with behavioral therapies. Medications such as methadone, buprenorphine and naltrexone, individualized to each patient, play an essential role in reducing cravings and withdrawal symptoms, which enhance retention and lower relapse rates, but it is important to note the incorporation of behavioral interventions, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI) and contingency management. These address the psychological, social and emotional dimensions of addiction. In combining these two approaches, treatment of the individual becomes more comprehensive, and holistic, which promotes long-term recovery, improving quality of life and reducing stigma. This workshop will review current guidelines, exemplary practices and evidence-based strategies for effectively integrating MAT and behavioral therapies. Learning Objectives: • Identify four key aspects of the Standard of Care for Addiction/Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT).
• Explain the value of a comprehensive approach to the treatment of OUD utilizing the integration of medication, behavioral counseling, peer coaching and intensive case management. • Demonstrate the continuum of care from initial assessment to discharge planning with the goal of improved treatment outcomes.
