Instead of focusing on a purely punitive approach, the VADOC team used Lawrenceville to implement an incentive-based model to create a community of accountability. This approach emphasizes individual engagement and ownership of outcomes. Participants will learn how the team developed incentives, the challenges of changing mindsets among the inmate population and staff, as well as lessons learned as Lawrenceville continues to evolve within this new framework. brief update on the status of the newly planned Oahu Jail and how the DCR’s Corrections and Rehabilitation strategies are incorporated into the vision for both future and current correctional facilities operating across the state. The “Quadruple Bottom Line” is a dynamic project prioritization tool developed to help Hawaii balance sustainable (Triple-Bottom-Line) priorities with an overarching emphasis on safety/security (Quadruple-Bottom-Line). DCR is shifting to a data-driven project tracking tool as the basis for establishing a user-informed master plan to implement improved workplace well-being for staff and better outcomes for adults in State custody.
