Human trafficking is all too common and doesn’t halt once a trafficker is in custody. Human Traffickers and gangs have become more diversified in their business plans with increased trafficking of individuals leaving scars across the nation with exploited victims. Monitoring phones, relationship analysis, mail, money deposits, visiting forms and phone numbers called while someone is incarcerated can turn up a substantial amount of information. Information gathered may be used to obtain subpoenas, search the internet, combing through the digital footprint that trafficking leaves behind and shared with anti-trafficking

A-4B Ethics and Culture: How Do They Influence Correctional Facilities Today, and in the Future? (CEU) Track: Staff Training/Social Work NEW! Room: National Harbor 3 In these tumultuous times, ethical behaviors in correctional facilities are directly related to the culture of those facilities. It is essential for correctional professionals to stay focused on the American Correctional Association’s (ACA) Code of Ethics, in addition to the mission, goals and principles of their correctional agency. In this workshop, two leading correctional administrators will discuss how ethical issues effect the culture among your staff, regardless of their positions and the culture within your organization. The presenters will share ways to address ethical and cultural issues in a professional and positive way. Learning Objectives: • Understand and identify ethical issues within your organization. • Understand how ethical issues affect the culture of the organization or agency, and how the ACA Code of Ethics can be a valuable tool to foster and promote ethical standards for correctional organizations and agencies.
