B-1L Managing Offenders Through Intelligence and Technology Track: Prisons Room: National Harbor 9 We will provide information and methods of how the Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) is utilizing and exploiting multiple technologies to combat criminal organizations operating both in and outside the wire. Topics include: the GDC strategic intelligence initiative; case studies of successful investigations; deployment of advanced technologies; intelligence exploitation through cross platform analysis. Learning Objectives: • Identify and proactively dismantle criminal element networks inside and outside the wire. • Develop and use technology as intelligence tools in order to improve safety and security within correctional environments. • Tie everything learned together through case studies. This workshop is a panel focused on three woman leaders in corrections. The panelists will share their unique stories and career paths towards leadership in corrections. The panelists will offer candid conversations and provide insights in what opportunities and decision points women in corrections might face as they navigate their careers. As our corrections profession continues to struggle with retention and promotion of women into top leadership roles, this workshop offers an inspirational discussion to support professional development. Learning Objectives: • Learn three diverse paths to correctional leadership for women working in corrections. • Identify opportunities and barriers women in corrections may face and solutions to navigating those challenges. • Discuss professional development strategies for women working in corrections to advance in their profession.
