A-4J Corrections Anger Management Program (CAMP): How a Ten-Session Anger Management Program Improves Behavioral Problem Outcomes in Correctional Settings (CE, CEU) Tracks: Healthcare & Treatment/Jails/ Social Work NEW! Room: National Harbor 13 Presenters from the Illinois DOC will describe how the Corrections Anger Management Program (CAMP) created by correctional staff in the Illinois Department of Corrections has reduced disciplinary infractions by 33% and self-reported aggression by 8%. This Corrections Anger Management Program imbues CBT approach to behavioral change with difficult and untouched topics such as moral development and forgiveness in correctional settings. The presenters will also share the obstacles faced and the highlights in creating and implementing the program. Room: National Harbor 12 People incarcerated in our jails and prisons struggle with substance use and behavioral health issues at a much higher rate than the general public. Leaving these issues untreated during and after incarceration leads to higher recidivism and an increased chance of death by suicide or overdose. Join this session to hear how the GEO Group implemented a program to address inmate behavioral health and substance use and reduce challenges to reentry using peer engagement specialists.
