We will explain the phenomenon of “Corrections Fatigue” and the associated negative health implications. We will also provide a clear cut action plan to combat Corrections Fatigue through integrated medical and wellness solutions for the individual and for managers/ supervisors to enact among their teams. The goal is to help corrections professionals live BETTER LONGER — increasing life expectancy as well as enhancing quality of life despite stressful and dangerous conditions. Learning Objectives: • Participants will be able to assess their own risk factors for Corrections Fatigue as well as for those of employees they manage. • Participants will be able to assess additional risk factors present in their lives that may further increase the risk of negative health outcomes and decreased life expectancy. • Participants will be able to take specific action to improve their health and wellness. Moderator: Ashley Bauman , MBA, MSCJ, President, Bauman Consulting Group, Loveland, Ohio Speakers: Ashley Bauman , MBA, MSCJ, President, Bauman Consulting Group, Loveland, Ohio; Bree Derrick , MAHC, Deputy Director, Idaho Department of Correction, Boise, Idaho Harm-Reduction Initiative: An Overview of Public Health Vending Machine Rollout and Utilization in the Criminal-Legal Setting Room 205B Harm reduction resources for people who are involved in the criminal-legal system should be easily accessible. The Rhode Island Department of Corrections (RIDOC) used funding from a state opioid stewardship fund created through the Rhode Island Opioid Stewardship Act (legislation passed in 2019) to implement five custom-designed vending machines for community corrections offices and state awaiting trial carceral facilities. The vending machines provide resources for overdose prevention, infection prevention, basic needs and nicotine replacement therapy (NRT). We aim to describe the development and rollout of the vending machines and present data about items taken most frequently by setting. Learning Objectives: • Participants will be able to define harm-reduction and identify three strategies of harm reduction. • Participants will be able to identify the benefit of public health vending machines in the jail and community-based corrections.
