This presentation will give a snapshot into programming within the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction, available industry-based credentials and alternative pathways to graduation for justice involved individuals. ODRC align Industry Recognized Credentials with our college partners to receive dual credit to include college credit, industry credentials, career technical certification and apprenticeship certification all in one program through prior learning assessment (PLA). Presenters will discuss how non-graduates can earn their high school diploma while participating in both career technical and apprenticeship programs. Navigating the Complexities of Community Transition in the Modern Era Room 201-A To contribute to public safety and reduce the negative impact recidivism has on communities, this session will explore the changing landscape in community transition in the 21 st century and how transition professionals at the Florida Department of Corrections are utilizing technology solutions, industry mindsets, employability skills training, connections to community providers, continuity of services, industry engagement, pre-release employment connections, reentry simulation, staffing strategies and partnerships to reduce recidivism and contribute to the long-term success of individuals returning to Florida’s communities post incarceration.
