FDC focuses on a hybrid combination of criminal intelligence strategies and business intelligence, both areas stemming from data analytics to create a cohesive, evidence-based approach toward producing a safe and secure environment. Learning Objectives: • Know how FDC’s Bureau of Intelligence utilizes multiple intelligence practices to proactively combat contraband introduction through the use of the Canine Interdiction Unit, technology tools, Procedural/Policy reviews, sharing of best practices, etc. • Know how FDC’s Bureau of Intelligence manages the Security Threat Group program through the use of intelligence gathering and a Security Threat Operational Review Management System that collects and stores intelligence information on STG. • Learn how FDC’s Bureau of Intelligence uses Data Analytics & Strategic Analysis intel practices through multiple sources, generating timely, relevant, accurate and synchronized intelligence to tactical, operational and strategic level managers and leaders within FDC. Through shared intelligence and fulfilling requests for information/assistance, FDC’s Bureau of Intelligence routinely provides support to outside law enforcement and correctional agencies in furtherance of FDC’s public safety mission. A-3A Operational Auditing Requirements Track: Prisons Room 201-A This course will provide participants with insight into the Florida Department of Correction’s Operational Auditing requirements and practices. The sections highlighted will include Statutory Auditing Requirements, Operational Reviews, Unannounced Security Audits, Institutional Self Audits, Development of Auditing Standards, Facility Variances, Elements of a Corrective Action Plan and Audit Follow-Up Program. Each section will include developmental instructions designed to enhance participants’ knowledge and understanding of auditing Corrective Action Plan elements. • Participants will have a better understanding of the importance of sound self-auditing practices. • Participants will have guidelines for audit standard development.
