Moderator: Nanette Larson , Deputy Commissioner, Client Support Services, Minnesota Department of Corrections, Saint Paul, Minnesota Speakers: Harbans Deol , D.O., Ph.D., Deputy Chief Medical Officer, VitalCore Health Strategies, Topeka, Kansas; Jerome Greenfield , Health Services Administrator, Iowa Department of Corrections, Des Moines, Iowa C-2H Treatment of Opioid Disorder in Philadelphia Department of Prisons (CE) Track: Nursing Room 204-A This presentation aims to describe the Medications for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) treatment program that is in place within the Philadelphia Department of Prisons correctional facilities. Relevant data that describes the current opioid epidemic both nationwide and locally will be presented along with corresponding statistics about incarcerated populations in Philadelphia. Descriptions of how the program is run along with information about

the medications and protocols used within the program will be covered. Lastly, impact data extrapolated from a study done in 2018 after the implementation of the program will be presented along with goals aimed at developing the program in the future. Learning Objectives: • Describe the problems associated with opioid use disorder (OUD) and opioid overdose related deaths in the context of the opioid epidemic and the pandemic. • Discuss medications used to treat OUD and the use of buprenorphine in correctional settings. • Describe the impact of providing buprenorphine to incarcerated persons within the Philadelphia Department of Prisons.
