Millennials make up the vast majority of today’s current workforce. Employers need to better understand what Millennials expect from their employers, in order to provide a positive work experience and gain the most productivity from the employee. A Millennial is defined as an individual born between 1981 and 1996. Millennials currently represent 35% of the U.S. workforce, and by the year 2025 will make up 75% of U.S. workers. It is imperative managers understand the motivations, needs and expectations of Millennials in order to attract and engage them and to keep these employees within the criminal justice field. How each agency addresses these issues within their organization can have a positive impact on the staff, clients and larger community. Once a year diversity training just doesn’t cut it in today’s environment. Learn how one agency is addressing these issues in a comprehensive way by including internal and external resources. It started with a self-assessment by staff that helped guide the steps needed to become a healthier organization. Learning Objectives: • Explore how to gauge your staff’s understanding of diversity, equity and inclusion. • Develop a multifaceted approach to reach staff at different levels of understanding and experience within your organization. • Outline a sustained approach for effective and lasting change to gain insights into their own and others understanding of DE&I.
