Consequently, many people are prescribed psychotropic

medications for various illnesses such as mood disorders, schizophrenia, anxiety and substance abuse disorders. This presentation will be a primer on various aspects of anti-depressants, mood stabilizers, anti-psychotics and other psychiatric medications routinely prescribed in our institutions. In addition, we will discuss various side effects that could be witnessed by correctional staff and important medical monitoring for patients on these medications.
