The FAFSA Simplification Act, which was first signed into law in December 2020, mandates that by July 1, 2023, Pell grants will be reinstated for people who are currently incarcerated, there will be a streamlined FAFSA, and the process of approving educational partners for postsecredefining prison education programs will first be handled by corrections. This

workshop is designed to give ACA members an overview of i) the Act and potential next steps by the government, ii) current ACA standards and potential updates, and iii) free resources available to ACA members moving forward. Learning Objectives: 1.Understand how the FAFSA Simplification Act provides corrections with an unprecedented opportunity to ensure high quality postsecondary educational programming for people who are incarcerated. 2.Recognize how ACA standards are designed to advocate for ACA members. 3.Access a wide array of free resources that are available to them by ACA, the Department of Education and the Vera Institute of Justice.
