and juveniles with a long history of institutionalization. These individuals routinely disrupt the daily operational functioning of most correctional facilities with little understanding of how to meet their needs while providing a safe and secure environment. This workshop will examine the difficulties of providing therapeutic services to inmates that have endured a lifetime of traumatic experiences that have shaped their worldview and cemented a pattern of criminal thinking. The workshop will explore the utilization of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in combination with Interpersonal skills training to identify problematic patterns and develop effective strategies to restructure negative thought processes, increase conflict management skills while improving emotional regulation. The workshop will address the types of boundaries, how healthy boundaries can reduce conflict and how healthy boundaries promote trust, accountability and self-respect. This workshop will explore how strengthening healthy boundaries among inmates can promote prosocial development and reduce admissions to restrictive housing.

Learning Objectives: 1.Participants will be able to explain the connection of environmental factors and past trauma on inmate’s worldview. 2.Participants will be able to define Pro-Social behaviors and identify barriers that discourage inmates from exhibiting these behaviors in correctional settings. 3.Participants will be able to demonstrate healthy boundaries between inmates and correctional staff. 4.Participants will be able to explore therapeutic interventions that promote the development of the Pro-Social behaviors and reduce revolving admissions to restrictive housing.
