As part of the initiative, this workshop reviews the current state of the issues associated with, and strategies aimed to combat, contraband cellphones. The workshop also discusses the opportunities through the BJA-sponsored initiative for state and local agencies to request no-cost training and technical assistance in the area of contraband cell phone interdiction and management. Learning Objectives: 1.Describe what type of cellphone-related challenges and issues correctional agencies across the country experience. 2.Learn more about the various interdiction strategies agencies are using to combat contraband cellphones. 3.Identify how and where to seek resources and technical assistance on the interdiction of contraband cellphones. C-4A Religion in Corrections in the Twenty First Century Room 239 Track: Prisons Panel including Attorneys and Chaplains will show how to identify the legal basis for inmates/offender religious rights. It will give a clear definition of the Religious Freedom Restoration ACT of 1993 (RFRA) It will define the Religious Land and Institutionalize Act 2000 (RLUIPA) It will describe eras of inmate’s rights. This course will explain the courts finding in the following court cases: Holt v Hobbs 2015, Cooper v Pate 1968, Cruz v. Beto 1972, Reiyn KEOHANE, Plaintiff — Appellee, v. FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS SECRETARY,2020. Address the concerns security have with inmates using religious services for criminal activity. This presentation is directed to Administrators, Wardens, Superintendents and Attorneys in corrections. Learning Objectives: 1.Explain why it is important for correctional staff to understand common religions and religious practices.
