a blueprint for how to establish a robust, multipronged family services program, where interactions with families are streamlined through a dedicated unit of civilian and sworn staff. Presenters will explore the development of the “Middlesex Model” through three evolutionary stages: research/development, planning/preparation and implementation/ evaluation. Learning Objectives: 1.Discuss the various features of robust family services approaches. 2.Critique existing practices for interacting and communicating with families at your own offices and departments and to identify the challenges and constraints of establishing streamlined approaches to family contact and recommend concrete action steps to overcome them. 3.Chart a course of action for institutionalizing a centralized family services program, using the “Middlesex Model” as a guidepost. Speaker: Lili Bonilla , Family Resource and Outreach Coordinator, Middlesex Sheriff’s Office, Billerica, Massachusetts C-2H Cross Disciplinary & Cross Agency Approach to Providing Comprehensive Family-Planning Services to Incarcerated Women (CE-RN, CME) Room 257 Track: Nursing Contraceptive access plays in the health of incarcerated women. In prisons/jails, there are barriers to providing this crucial health service. Using a case study approach, we describe how prisons/jails can work collaboratively with other governmental & non-governmental agencies in their jurisdiction to surmount barriers to contraceptive access and women’s health. The “Women’s Health Initiative” is a collaborative effort between security leadership/staff, medical leadership/staff & the health departments Title X program. Through this cross agency and cross discipline collaborative, we provide patients with a full range of contraceptive options including long acting reversible (LARC), counseling and cancer screening.
