It will also discuss how to prevent the recruitment of new prisoners to gang life, create programs to help gang members exit the gang life and identify what really works in the world of reentry. Objectives: Understand how prison gang leaders think; prevent the recruitment of new prisoners to gang life; and create programs that help current gang members exit the gang life. Reentry Initiative. The combination of legislative mandates, state-level funding and federal funding has led to significant systemic change. Louisiana DOC has implemented a new RNR tool, has expanded programming/ treatment capacity and is engaging with community providers to a level that was unheard of a few years ago. The workshop will include multi-disciplinary perspectives for the Louisiana Department of Corrections, the Office of Reentry Services, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Objectives: Participants will be able to understand the history of reentry efforts in the Louisiana Correctional System; participants will also be able to identify tangible “next steps” to establish or bolster community involvement in reentry preparation; and participants will be able to gain insight into how Louisiana is planning to utilize the TIGER RNR tool in reentry endeavors moving forward.
