Written policy, procedure and practice addresses the management of confi dentiality of inmate appointment dates, times and locations. 1. Appointment information is maintained in a manner that ensures only those who “need to know” have access. 2. Collaboration between medical and security staff regarding schedul ing of appointments is conducted in a private setting. 3. All staff who have authorized direct access to the appointment infor mation are trained in confidentiality requirements. 4. Inmates, inmate family members, and inmate advocates are not pro vided appointment information prior to the scheduled appointment. 5. Outside providers are educated on not relaying appointment informa tion to the inmate. Comment : None. Protocols : Written policy and procedure. Process Indicators : Transport logs; Medical appointment records; Training records on confidentiality. Written policy, procedure and practice provides for the safeguard of inmates and staff from communicable disease during transport including provision of personal protective equipment on transport vehicles. Comment : Personal protective equipment (PPE) can include disposable gloves, face masks or face shields, mouth to mouth barrier, etc. Protocols : Written policy and procedure; PPE Inventory list. Process Indicators : Inventory logs; Inspection logs; Transportation logs. Written policy, procedure and practice provides for a process to determine inmate’s suitability for travel based on medical evaluation. The process will include: 1. Medical staff determination of type of transport required i.e., van, ambulance, etc.
